“Slater’s sense of storytelling is undeniably charming” – London Pub Theatres

Robert Emlyn Slater is a writer from Ruthin, North Wales, now based in South-West London.
His debut play, Death and the Cat, which followed the adventures of the Grim Reaper and his pet cat, Panther, was performed at The Drayton Arms Theatre, London, in November 2024. It sold out all five nights of its run and received four-star reviews.
His new play, The Cabin, will debut on stage in July 2026.
In 2021, his episode of the animated kids’ TV show, Sali Mali, titled Toriad Gwawr (Daybreak), aired on S4C. It is regularly repeated and is still available on BBC iPlayer and S4C Clic when the wind is in the right direction.
He has had numerous short plays performed in London, Liverpool, Brighton, and Aberystwyth. His work has been performed at Southwark Playhouse, the Pleasance Theatre, The Bread & Roses Theatre, The Cervantes Theatre, and The Glitch. It’s also been performed at the Royal Court Theatre in Liverpool and the Komedia in Brighton.
Rob has written extensively with Director’s Cut Theatre Company. He has also had his writing performed and read by KDC Theatre, Flat 4 Theatre, SIK Productions, Scriptwriters Bath & Co., and Cwmni Ennyn Awakenyn.
He is currently trying to get his debut novel, Death and the Cat (yes, based on the play, or was the play based on the book? A mystery for you), published. He is also currently writing another novel about time travel and creepy people who can’t stop smiling.
Between the hours of 9am-5.30pm, Rob is a freelance writer.
